Meet the Coaches
Jacob Duong
Head Powerlifting Coach/Owner
I first got into coaching because I loved powerlifting, and after working as a personal trainer for a few years, I naturally developed a passion for helping athletes reach their potential. What started as a love for lifting and seeing objective progress evolved into a purpose, guiding others through their own strength journey. I’ve been coaching in-person for over five years and have specialised in powerlifting for the last three, continually developing my knowledge through courses and mentorships in biomechanics, rehabilitation, and movement. My education includes RTS Emerging Strategies, Conor Harris’ mentorship, Alex Effer’s Resilient Rehab, and guidance from two high-level coaches, including one international mentor, along with countless hours of hands-on experience working with athletes over the years.
I’ve worked with lifters ranging from complete beginners to national-level competitors, with a focus on creating an environment where athletes feel safe to fail, yet motivated to thrive. I value collaboration, working closely with my athletes to problem-solve, refine technique, and build sustainable progress. My relentless drive to grow as a coach ensures I’m always improving my systems and approach to deliver the highest quality service possible. Above all, I want my athletes to feel supported, confident, inspired, and grounded, knowing they have the tools and guidance to perform at their best both on and off the platform.

Powerlifting Coach
Powerlifting has taught me that true strength isn't built in perfect conditions, but forged through adversities. Throughout my own journey as a lifter, I've faced multiple long-term injuries and watched many athletes burn out chasing progress without proper guidance. Those experiences opened my eyes to a major gap in education within the sport - a lack of understanding around athlete psychology and longevity. That's when I realised I wanted to become a coach, to help others avoid the same pitfalls and build strength that lasts.
With nearly three years of experience in powerlifting and mentorship under two highly respected Australian coaches, I've developed a coaching philosophy grounded in resilience, education, and sustainability. Every setback I've encountered has shaped how I coach my athletes today, focusing on helping lifters not only add more kilos to their total but also overcome the mental and physical challenges that come with training. Although I've only been coaching for just over a year, I'm continuously developing my knowledge and up-skilling myself to provide my athletes with an ever-evolving service.
I've worked with lifters from complete beginners to seasoned athletes, with an emphasis on mastering technique, cultivating a strong mindset, and fostering long-term development. My goal is to help athletes understand the "whys" behind their training, empowering them to take ownership of their journey and build a foundation of strength, confidence, and resilience that endures far beyond the platform.
